Murder accused from Kumbla arrested from near Puttur

Providing a major breakthrough in the recent murder of 19-year-old Muhammed Sakeer, at Kumbla near here, the police on Wednesday arrested four youths in connection with the incident.

Farooq, 27, Basith, 22, Fais, 22, an autorickshaw driver and Logi Siddique, 32, all residing in and around Kumbla, were rounded up by a police team led by Kasaragod Dy.SP. T.P. Ranjith from near Puttur in Karnataka and brought here late on Tuesday. The accused would be produced in a court here on Thursday, Mr. Ranjith said. The police had also impounded a car used by the assailants, he said. The fatal stab attack on Sakeer, a resident of Tsunami colony of nearby Pervad locality late around 7 p.m. on Sunday came following heated altercation between two groups over the manner in which a football tournament was hosted by a club at Kumbla.
