MP promises better amenities at railway stations in Mandya

Railway track doubling between Bangalore and Mysore will be completed by March 2015, C.S. Puttaraju, Mandya MP, has said.

Mr. Puttaraju visited Maddur, Mandya and Pandavapura railway stations on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Railway officials, he inspected the basic amenities at these stations.

He discussed the progress of the track-doubling project with officials and spoke to commuters about their grievances.

Speaking to presspersons, he said that Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda had instructed officials to complete the project by March next year.

“Basic amenities at railway stations in the district will be improved. I will ask Railway officials to upgrade railway stations in Mandya district and construct railway overpasses,” Mr. Puttaraju said.

He said priority would be given to provide drinking water, create parking lots, more ticket counters and toilets. The MP also said he would request the Union government to allocate sufficient funds to construct a railway station near the Horticulture Department in Maddur.
