A private school in Hassan has decided to close down from next academic year, leaving the students and parents in a quandary. Now, the students and their parents have launched a protest against the decision of the school management.

Excellent Academy, an unaided higher primary school, which was started about 10 years ago, has decided to close the institution from 2015-16. The parents have been told to enrol their children in some other schools. The schoolchildren and their parents began a protest in front of the school on Friday. Prabha, whose two sons are studying in the school, said her elder son was about to seek admission for class seven. “My both sons are studying in the ame school from the beginning. Now, we are being asked to admit our children to other school, with which they have a tie-up. As the school being suggested by them is not good, I want my children to study up to class seven in their present school only,” she said. M. Chinmayi, head mistress of the school, told presspersons that the management had decided to close down the school. Meanwhile, the parents have registered complaints with the Block Education Officer and the Deputy Commissioner of Hassan in this regard.
