Mother campaigns for daughter

Ranjitha began door-to-door campaigning in the city

Ranjitha, leader of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee women’s wing and mother of Ramya, Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha bypolls from Mandya, seeking the blessings of G. Made Gowda, former MP, in Mandya on Tuesday.

Congress candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha bypolls Ramya received a fillip when her mother, Ranjitha, joined the campaign activities here on Tuesday.

Ms. Ranjitha, one of the leaders of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) women’s wing, began door-to-door campaigning in different parts of the city.

Distributing pamphlets and requesting the people to vote for the hand symbol, Ms. Ranjitha promised voters that her daughter Ramya will change the development scenario of the district.

“My daughter’s guardian R.T. Narayan’s dream was to see her in the Lok Sabha as a Member of Parliament. Unfortunately, Mr. Narayan passed away. The voters should elect Ramya to accomplish his dream,” she said.

Ranjitha also tried to garner support from senior Congress leaders in the district. She met G. Made Gowda, former MP, and sought his blessings for her daughter.

Meanwhile, the Vipra Vedike had organised a condolence meeting for Mr. Narayan, who died of cardiac arrest soon after Ramya filed her nomination papers.

Addressing a gathering at the Gandhi Bhavan where the meeting was held, Ms. Ranjitha said her father was a farmer from Mandya. Ramya has a dream of serving the poor and the downtrodden. She grew emotional and broke down during the address.

Meanwhile, Ramya, Minister for Housing M.H. Ambareesh and others campaigned in and around Keregodu in the taluk on Tuesday evening.
