Morning chill back in Mysuru, nearby areas

The city and surrounding regions registered a drop in minimum temperature and is experiencing a severe chill in the early hours for the last two days.

The minimum temperature in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar as recorded for the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday was 11.2°C, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

For Mysuru, it was 5.1 degree below normal for the period and weather data indicated that it was the steepest drop in minimum temperature anywhere in the State for the period. The maximum temperature in Mysuru was 30°C during the same period

The 11.2°C recorded on Tuesday was also lower than the coldest day for December recorded last year when the minimum temperature was down to 11.8°C (on December 30) The all-time low temperature of 8.7°C for the month was recorded on December 28, 2011, according to IMD.

The temperatures were below normal in a few other districts as well and Madkeri recorded a low of 10.3°C which was 2.7° below normal while the minimum temperature in Hassan was 10.8°C which was 4° below normal, according to IMD.

Mandya was relatively warm with the lowest temperature recorded during the period being 13.4°C which was 2°C below normal. The early morning chill was also perceived on Monday and IMD data shows that the minimum temperature recorded was 12.4°C. This was a drop of 4°C below normal and has brought back the cold and chill conditions which Mysuru experienced for a brief spell during early November.
