Selection of the candidates for the seats available under RTE Act in Kolar is going to be a tough job for authorities as more applications have been received than the seats available in the private educational institutions.

While the seats available in 297 private schools in the district were 2,996, as many as 8,403 applications have been submitted by the parents seeking admission of their wards under RTE quota.

The Department of Public Instructions has set April 30 deadline for the admission of the students selected in the second list.

More applications not withstanding, many seats were remained vacant due to confusion created from the lottery system to select the candidates who applied for more than one institution.

The Lokayukta has intervened following the complaints by the public and instructed the authorities to release the second list by April 15.

Accordingly the list was announced and April 30 was fixed as last date for the admissions.

The parents of the selected candidates were informed through SMS and instructed to approach respective Block Education Officers (BEO) to get more details regarding admission of their wards.

The authorities are planning to have another round of lottery to select the candidates to fill the remaining seats in private institutions.
