‘Modi saris’ seized at BTM Layout

As many as 135 boxes of saris, bearing the picture of Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and with ‘free gift box’ printed on it, were seized by Election Commission officials on Thursday in the Madiwala police station limits.

A case has been registered against the owner of Padmashree Textiles in BTM Layout I Stage under Section 171-E of the Indian Penal Code for the offence of bribery, said K.V. Sharath Chandra, Joint Commissioner of Police Law and Order (Bangalore East). The box carried the imprint ‘Pragati NX’ and said ‘Namo Mantra’ in Devanagari script. It bore a Surat address.
