‘Modi factor yielded good results for the BJP’

December 09, 2013 09:13 am | Updated May 12, 2016 07:23 am IST - DHARWAD:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers celebrated the party’s victory in the Assembly elections in four States by bursting crackers and distributing sweets here on Sunday.

Arvind Bellad, Hubli-Dharwad West MLA, said the ‘Modi factor’ had yielded good results for the party which would enter the Lok Sabha elections in a positive frame of mind. The poll results in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi had proven that a ‘Modi wave’ had engulfed the country, he added.

He said the Congress had fared poorly and the result would be the same in the general elections.

KJP workers join BJP

Meanwhile, several members of B.S. Yeddurappa’s Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) left the party to join the BJP. Over 1,500 KJP workers joined the BJP at a function held at the State Government Employees’ Association hall here.

Sudhir Kshatriya, who had quit the BJP to join the KJP when the new party was launched, said he returned to the BJP to lend support to Narendra Modi.

Mr. Yeddyurappa’s experiment had neither benefited the KJP nor the BJP. On the other hand, it had weakened both parties and paved the way for the Congress to wrest power in the Assembly elections, he said.
