The former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Srinivasapur MLA K.R. Rameshkumar on Thursday criticised government officials and Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) for lack of diligence in executing works.
Participating in a meeting to review the drinking water situation in the district, Mr. Kumar asked Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra to send PDOs, who lacked a humanitarian approach towards people’s woes to, jail.

Officials fail to utilise grants to the tune of crores of rupees which the legislators get released from the government, he said, a view endorsed by Malur MLA K.S. Manjunath as well.

Additional funds
The drinking water situation was aggravated in 288 villages of the district. Water is being supplied through tankers in 214 villages and through private tube wells in 74 places. Additional funds of Rs. 50 lakh each is being released to every taluk exclusively for drinking water in view of drought.
