Miscreants destroy tomato plants

Unidentified miscreants have destroyed tomato plants of a farmer at S. Madamangala in Bangarpet taluk, causing a huge loss.

Farmer Narayanaswamy was shocked to see the tomato plants cultivated on three-fourth acre land destroyed when he visited the farm on Monday morning. The miscreants reportedly caused the damage on Sunday night.

Narayanaswamy had cultivated 4,000 tomato plants one month ago, spending around ₹1 lakh. “I have taken loans for cultivation and now suffered loss due to the destruction of the plants”, he said.

A delegation of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha led by State vice- president K. Narayanagowda visited the farm. It urged the authorities to find out the culprits and provide compensation to the farmer.
