‘Mathe Mahadevi is a self-made guru’

Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Prabhakar Kore has termed Mathe Mahadevi as a “self-made guru with a limited following.”

He has been opposing the efforts by her and other community leaders to grant minority religion status to Lingayatism.

At a press conference in Belagavi on Monday, Mr. Kore said he did not consider her as a guru or a religious leader of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community. “She has limited followers among the community. Show me even if she has one follower in Belagavi district,’’ Mr. Kore added.
