Man stabbed to death as altercation turns violent

One person was allegedly stabbed to death and two sustained injuries when an altercation turned violent in Nimbal village of Indi taluk on Wednesday.

The police gave the name of the deceased as Ningappa Phutani (46) and those who were injured as Hanumantappa Phutani (22) and Manjunath Phutani (24), who are said to be the relatives.

According to reports, the incident occurred outside Gurduved Ranade High School where the SSLC exam was taking place.

Supplying chits

It is said that a few people were trying to supply chits to their relatives who were writing the exam.

It was objected by another group saying they were disturbing the students.

Chaos

The group which was supplying the chits, opposed the other group and an altercation ensued. Amid the chaos, a person reportedly took out a knife and stabbed three persons.

Arrest

The police have arrested Vilas Biradar and Suresh Dhannyal in connection with the incident. Indi police have registered a case.
