A 62-year-old chartered accountant has been arrested by the city police for growing ganja in his house.

The police said Jagannath, who had discontinued his practice, had grown 18 ganja plants, including three on the terrace of his house, in Bogadi 2nd Stage in the city.

During a search that the police carried out following a tip-off, they seized the ganja plants, besides three-and-a-half kg of ganja, worth ₹3.5 lakh.

The police said Jagannath was not only selling ganja to youths, but was also allowing them to use the same in his house.

“We also seized 18 hookahs from his residence,” a police officer investigating the case said.

The police also recovered an unlicensed rifle from the house. The accused has been arrested, produced before the court, and remanded in judicial custody.
