Mahadevappa inaugurates Hoysala Utsav

The four-day Hoysala Utsav, a festival focussing on the rich culture and heritage of Hassan district, began at Belur on Thursday. It was inaugurated by H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Public Works and in charge of the district, at a function organised on the Channakeshava temple premises.

“The festival is being held almost after a decade. The district administration decided to organise this event as it would help youngsters understand the history and glory of their land,” he said.

Mr. Mahadevappa said he had directed the officials to organise a one-day event at Halebidu in near future.

“It was a great experience because it was the first time that I did parasailing,” said H.N. Gopala Krishna, Additional Deputy Commissioner here on Thursday, who inaugurated the event that had been organised as part of the Hoysala Utsav. A team of experts, led by R. Nanda Prasad of the Bengaluru-based Horizon Adventures, is conducting the event in which general public can take part and enjoy parasailing. Mr. Krishna told presspersons that the district administration had provided Rs. 50,000 for the event. Public could avail themselves of the opportunity by paying Rs. 250 a person, he said.
