Kalasa-Banduri Mahahadayi Horata Samanvaya Samiti has urged former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to lead a delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convince him to intervene in the Mahadayi issue instead of meeting the Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Addressing press persons here on Sunday, Vikas Soppin, Mahesh Pattar and Amrut Ijari of the samithi said that at a time when the Goa CM had spoken openly against participating in any dialogue with Karnataka on the long pending issue, there was no point in meeting him.
Mr. Yeddyurappa is slated to lead a delegation of MPs and farmers’ leaders to meet Mr. Parrikar to convince him to come to the dialogue table.

Mr. Soppin said that there was need to apprise the Prime Minister on the need for sharing Mahadayi river water and how important it was for the state of Karnataka to gets is share. “Only the intervention of the PM can facilitate a solution and Mr. Yeddyurappa should try to convince Mr. Modi to intervene,” Mr. Soppin said
Mr. Pattar said that earlier people were asked to wait because of elections in Goa and now with Karnataka going to elections within a year, political parties would get another reason to delay finding solution to the problem, adding that it was regretful that despite being a national party, BJP did not have any national policy on issues of water sharing.
