Lokayukta raids government staff

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on the property of three government employees in Bangalore, Kudligi in Bellary, and Shimoga who were alleged to be in possession of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The Lokayukta police unearthed property worth Rs. 5.5 crore from them.

Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Ramesh Bindurao Zalki was found to be in possession of assets estimated to be worth over Rs. 3.5 crore and had incurred expenses of over Rs. 1.73 crore. His income added up to Rs. 2.2 crore in all these years. In addition to 0.5 kg of gold, he was found to own two houses, two flats and one residential plot in Bangalore.

B.T. Yogesh, a First Division Assistant with the Women and Child Development Department at Kudligi, owns assets worth Rs. 1.18 crore whereas his total income so far added up to Rs. 35 lakh. He owns two houses in Hospet, a car, two motorcycles, and gold.

Clement Royan, a driver with Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) in Shimoga, owns property worth Rs. 82 lakh and spent Rs. 12 lakh on various purchases while his total income so far is Rs. 45 lakh. He owns a rubber plantation, housing plot and a house as well as a car and two motorcycles and jewellery worth Rs. 11 lakh, the Lokayukta police said.
