Laser park, musical fountain coming up near Belagavi fort

The picturesque fort lake here is set to become more attractive with the addition of a laser park and floating musical fountain.

While the assembling work for the musical fountain is in its last stages and the fabrication is done by a Bengaluru-based manufacturer using laser technology.

The Belagavi City Corporation has taken up the project with the funds available under the Chief Minister’s Special Fund. Junior engineer M.V. Hiremath is overseeing its implementation.

Senior official sources at the corporation said the initiative for the project was taken by Feroz N. Sait, MLA. The total cost of the unit is Rs. 1.67 crore.

It would become functional after about a fortnight.

The fabricator would be asked to take up the responsibility of maintenance of the musical fountain and also train local staff for a year. Entry for public would be for free .

The sources told The Hindu that the corporation on Wednesday sought a 200 KW power connection to make the project operational and hoped that the Hubbali Electricity Supply Company would facilitate it at the earliest. Also, the corporation is working out on setting up a restaurant on the lake premises.

The development at the lake site is a step further towards making the fort lake attractive and beautiful and boost tourism in the city.

This comes close on the heels of the State government declaring the Belgaum Fort as a State heritage monument, as per Section 4(3) of the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1961.
