Landslide: Narrow escape for family

A family travelling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru in a private car had a miraculous escape from a landslide on the Shiradi Ghat stretch of National Highway 75 on Wednesday.

Following heavy rain in the area, sand and a rock from the hillock fell on the road.

The car, which hit the rock, was damaged. The window panes of the car were broken as a portion of a tree fell on it.

The occupants of the car did not suffer any injuries. Locals rushed to their aid and succeeded in getting them out of the car. The incident, which occurred around 9 a.m., affected the traffic on the road for two hours. The situation returned to normal by 11 a.m.
