Lad lambasts KIMS authorities

District-in-charge minister Santosh Lad visited KIMS Hospital in Hubli on Saturday and took the medical officers to task for lack of cleanliness and hygiene in the hospital wards.

Angry over the lack of cleanliness and hygiene in the KIMS Hospital wards, district-in-charge Minister Santosh Lad who visited the hospital here on Saturday took the medical officers and the cleaning contractor to task.

While KIMS authorities had been informed of his visit in advance, no attempts had been made to spruce up the institution. The Minister wanted to know why medical officers had failed to maintain cleanliness on the hospital premises and also lambasted the cleaning contractor, who he said had “failed to maintain hospital wards properly”.

Dustbins full of trash, unclean toilets and a foul smell greeted the Minister during his tour of the general and maternity wards. Accompanied by Prasad Abbayya, MLA, and Congress leader Rajashekhar Menasinakai, the Minister found an unhygienic conditions prevalent in several other wards, which only added fuel to the fire.

Mr. Lad said he was shocked by the apathy of medical officers at the hospitals, which catered to the healthcare needs of thousands of people from north Karnataka.
