Kumaraswamy meets Bhardwaj, says it was a courtesy call

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday alleged that the Congress government, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, appears to be gripped by lack of trust as well as co-ordination among the party leaders as it was the case with the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor H.R. Bhardwaj at the Raj Bhavan, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that lack of trust and co-ordination between the party and the government was visible with Congress veteran leader M.V. Rajasekharan writing to the party high command seeking formulation of a committee to bring about co-ordination between the government and the party.

“The letter shows that there was lack of trust between the government and party,” he said while expressing the fear that this may affect the development of the State.

He ridiculed Mr. Siddaramaiah for announcing new schemes in a haste and then changing his decisions. He termed his meeting with the Governor as a courtesy call and said, “I did not meet him after taking oath as Leader of the Opposition and hence, called on him today. We discussed several issues related to the State.”

‘Yet to get facilities’

Mr. Kumaraswamy said that the government was yet to give him any facility, including an official bungalow or a car, though it was mandatory. “When Mr. Siddaramaiah was the Leader of the Opposition, he brought pressure on the government to get these benefits. I will not seek such facilities. Let the government treat the Leader of the Opposition with some respect,” he said.
