The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) on Thursday condemned the killing of agitators, who were demanding the closure of the Sterlite Copper unit, in a police firing in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.

The KRRS members blocked the traffic on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway here and raised slogans against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his government.

Shambhunahalli Suresh, KRRS president, Mandya district unit, led the protest. Addressing the gathering, he severely condemned the police firing on the agitators.

“The T.N. government has brutally murdered innocent people who were protesting in a peaceful manner. The inhuman police firing exposes the anti-people stances of the T.N. government. It should take steps to close the Sterlite Copper unit and initiate legal measures against the officials responsible for the police firing immediately,” he said.
