The much-discussed Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendments) Bill has finally got Governor Vajubhai R. Vala’s assent.
The Bill, before it was passed by both the Houses, had seen a huge furore, with doctors objecting to some of its strong penal provisions, and the Indian Medical Association launching an agitation.
The government finally passed the Bill by watering down some of its provisions and dropping the jail term proposed for violations.
