Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Saturday said he had told Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to advise his Ministers not to accept any grand felicitations in view of the tragedy in Uttarakhand.

“It is a national calamity and demands some austerity on the part of all,” he said, while speaking to presspersons after a meeting with Union Minister Oscar Fernandes.

Earlier at the meeting, Dr. Parameshwara sought more funds to Karnataka for upgrading national highways and also under the Calamity Relief Fund.

Mr. Fernandes promised to look into it. On the efforts of some Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to bring back the KJP president and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa into the party, Dr. Parameshwara said it was an internal matter of that party. However, Dr. Parameshwara said Mr. Yeddyurappa’s possible return to BJP would not create any problem for the Congress.
