A 10-member gang, who are wanted in cases such as murder, robbery, and illegal sale and possession of arms, have been arrested by the Gangavati police in Koppal district.
Three country-made pistols, seven live rounds of bullets, gold ornaments weighing 95 g, two motorcycles and four mobile phones were recovered from them.
P. Raja, Superintendent of Police, said that in August 2014, Vishwanath, who owns a jewellery shop, was robbed of gold ornaments kept in a hand bag while he was returning home. An unidentified person, who had covered his head with a mask, snatched the bag and fled.

Eeranna, who was passing by, tried to stop him, but sustained bullet injuries when the accused opened fire on him before making good his escape on a two-wheeler brought by two of his accomplices.
After registering the case in Gangavati police station, Dr. Raja formed a special squad headed by E. Kalikrishna, Police Inspector, to crack the case. The special squad swung into action after a similar robbery case was reported from Hunaswadi in Yadgir district recently and successfully nabbed the culprits – Ajaykumar of Udagi in Bidar district, Prasad Reddy from Kamasagar near Munirabad, Bhaakar Rao of Devinagar in Gangavati, Ibrahim of Mangaluru in Vijayapura district, Kasim from Malli in Jewargi taluk, Gopal of Chamnal Tanda Surpur taluk, Abdul of Yevoor in Surpur taluk, Vasu of Chamnal Tanda, Parshuram of Sindgi in Vijayapur district, and Anand of Maradgi in Jewargi.
