KEA releases seats, fee details

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) released the details of seats and fee structure in Bangalore on Saturday, setting the ball rolling for admissions to undergraduate professional courses. It comes a day after the State government decided to retain the previous academic year’s quota and fee structure for all professional courses.

While the results of the Common Entrance Test (CET), in which about 1.4 lakh students appeared, are expected on Tuesday, the document verification for admissions will commence on June 3. However, the dates for entry of options (for online counselling) are yet to be announced.

A press release on Saturday said 87,490 seats were up for the grabs in engineering. Of these, 42,231 are government seats, 24,360 are Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) seats, 20,899 are management seats and 4,376 are under the supernumerary quota.

CET rank-holders will pay Rs. 18,090 in government and aided colleges, and Rs. 38,090 and Rs. 41,590 in private unaided and minority colleges.

Medical course aspirants have to fight it out for 5,298 seats, of which 2,221 are government seats, 1,438 COMEDK, 1,387 management quota and 202 are under the all-India quota. CET students will pay Rs. 16,700 in government colleges, Rs. 46,000 in private unaided and minority colleges and in deemed colleges.

Students opting for dental courses have 2,470 seats in all, 837 of them government seats, 1,160 COMEDK/Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority Colleges Association seats, 457 management seats and 16 all-India quota seats.

Fee for government colleges is Rs. 14,400 and Rs. 35,000 for private unaided and minority colleges.

Postponed

Meanwhile, a press note from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) said the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) counselling for in-service candidates opting for dental courses, scheduled on May 26, has been postponed to May 29.
