Kaup shrine to be renovated

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, said on Friday that the renovation of the Hosa Marigudi Shrine at Kaup in Udupi district would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 25 crore on June 24.

The renovation of the Hosa Marigudi Shrine would be taken up in three phases. The first phase work would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 10 crore and would include the construction of Mari and Uchchangi strines, a ‘rajagopura’ and ‘mukhamantapa’. The construction of the shrine would be done in red granite.

The second phase work would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 10 crore and include the construction of an administrative office, a managing committee office, a dining hall, a rest house for priests, a guest house, a museum, a toilet complex, a storage room and a spacious parking area.

Rs. 5 crore would be spent on the third phase work and include the construction of a hall for 1,200 persons, a dining hall for 800 persons and a shopping complex.
