Karnataka Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar suggested that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy constitute a SIT to probe the audio tape where "a person holding responsible position" made allegations that the Speaker was "booked" for ₹50 crore.

The Speaker told the CM in the Assembly to submit the SIT report in 15 days. Both ruling and Opposition members demanded a probe.

The Chief Minister had recently released two audio clips - one was a purported conversation between Sharanagouda, son of a JDS MLA, and Shivanagouda Nayak (who, allegedly, is a BJP MLA), where the BJP MLA is heard telling Sharanagouda that the Speaker was on their side after he was paid ₹50 crore.
