Karnataka gets new Chief Secretary

Kaushik Mukherjee, one of the senior-most officers of the Indian Administrative Service here, has been appointed Chief Secretary to the State government and will take charge on Thursday on the superannuation of the present incumbent, S.V. Ranganath, whose service was extended by six months.

The State Cabinet will meet on Wednesday and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will formally convey the new appointment to the Cabinet.

The Hindu: “I am confident that Mr. Kaushik Mukherjee will serve the interests of the people of the State, the administration of the State and also enable in the implementation of the policies of the government.”

Mr. Kaushik Mukherjee, who belongs to the 1978 batch of the IAS, has served in various positions and in various departments of the government.

Among his notable achievements is the setting up of the Karnataka Examinations Authority and turning around the Karnataka State Financial Corporation as a profit-earning institution.
