Karkala Sub-Inspector suspended

Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai has suspended Sub-Inspector of Police of Karkala Town Police Station Imran on the grounds of misconduct.

Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai has suspended Sub-Inspector of Police of Karkala Town Police Station Imran on the grounds of misconduct.

In a press release issued here on Friday, Mr. Annamalai said that Mr. Imran, who was Sub-Inspector (Law and Order) at Karkala Town Police Station, had gone with his wife to do some purchasing at a shop at Salmar in Karkala on the night of November 3. A 30-year-old youth Raghavendra too had gone for purchasing at the same shop.

While doing the purchasing at the shop, Mr. Raghavendra’s hand accidentally touched the hand of Mr. Imran’s wife. Mr. Imran, who was there, had not only abused Mr. Raghavendra, but also assaulted him. Mr. Raghavendra later got admitted to a hospital for treatment.

A case was registered at the Karkala Rural Police Station based on the information provided by the hospital. Mr. Annamalai said he had already directed Assistant Superintendent of Police Suman D.P. to conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit a report. Consequently, Mr. Imran had been suspended from duty for misconduct, the release added.

Mr. Imran’s wife has also lodged a complaint at the Karkala Town Police Station stating that Mr. Raghavendra had intentionally touched her.
