C.S. Nadagouda, Karnataka’s special representative to New Delhi, has said that the State government is in touch with the Goa government for resolving the problem of Kannadigas living in Goa.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, he said that since it was a sensitive issue, the government was treading cautiously and was not ready to take any hasty decision which could further harm the interest of the Kannadigas.
It may be noted that several Kannadigas, mainly the labour community were being reportedly displaced by the Goa government for illegally setting up their settlements in the government land near Baina beach.

“The government is in constant touch with the Goa officials. The government has also instructed the deputy commissioner of Karwar to visit Goa and monitor the situation to make sure that best solution is offered to Kannadigas”, Mr. Nadagouda said and made it clear that it was not a political issue and urge the media not to read too much between the lines.
On the question of establishment of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Vijayapura district, District in-charge Minister, M.B. Patil who was also present, said that a detailed memorandum had been prepared for submitting it to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
He said that a seventy-page detailed report mentioning the details as to how the district was lagging in socio-economic status, based on the Nanjundappa committee report had been prepared.

“We will submit the proposal to the Chief Minister and pressurize him to consider the demand”, he said.
