Kamal Haasan’s fans can breathe easy now as the actor-director’s much-awaited blockbuster, “Vishwaroopam”, which has been withheld in Tamil Nadu, will be released on Sunday in the State.
Speaking to The Hindu , distributor of the film for Karnataka H.D. Gangaraju said that he had met Home Minister R. Ashok and senior police officials and discussed the release of the film.
“On their advice, I have decided to release the film on Sunday,” he said.

Mr. Ashok asked the distributor to release the film on Sunday keeping in view the law and order situation on Republic Day.
Mr. Gangaraju said that he would release in the film in 12 cinemas in Bangalore and up to 30 cinemas in the State.
“Money was refunded to those who had booked tickets in advance for the show on Friday and Saturday in a few cinemas in Bangalore,” he said.

Disappointed with the postponement of the film’s release, Kamal Haasan’s fans staged a peaceful protest in front of two cinemas here.
Asked about the release of the film in a cinema in a rural area in the State, Mr. Gangaraju said that as it was planned to screen via satellite, cinema owners, who had no communication, had screened the film.
However, they stopped the film immediately after they were told that the release was only on Sunday.
Refuting rumours that there was pressure on him from some sections of society against the release of the film, Mr. Gangaraju said that there was indeed pressure but seeking the release the film.
“People wanted to know why it was postponed and urged him to reconsider the decision,” he added.
“We have postponed the release to ensure communal harmony as it was Id Milad on Friday,” he said.
