Pro-Kannada organisations have called for a daylong rail bandh across the State on March 26 to draw the attention of the Union government and also to appeal to all the political parties to bury their differences and make a united effort to get the Kalasa Banduri issue resolved.

Addressing presspersons along with office-bearers of various Kannada organisations, including Sa.Ra. Govind, Kumar, Manjunath and others, president of the Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha Vatal Nagaraj announced that the rail bandh would be observed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 26, .

Mr. Vatal Nagaraj said although farmers had continued their agitation in Naragund, Annigeri, Navalgund and Hubballi, neither had members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha nor members of the Legislative Assembly and Council raised the issue in the respective Houses. “While the farmers have continued their agitation, leaders are behaving as if nothing has happened. This is highly condemnable,” he said.

He urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately convene an all-party meeting in Bengaluru on the issue apart from inviting all MPs to send out a clear message for a ‘united stand’ on the Kalasa Banduri issue. He also said there was nothing wrong in approaching the Prime Minister on the issue once again.

Sa.Ra. Govind said the BJP leaders from the State should be ashamed of themselves for failing to make the Prime Minister speak on the issue during his two recent visits to the State.
