Jewellery theft: police arrest three members of a gang

The South-East division police busted an inter-State gang of robbers by arresting three members out of a seven-member gang hailing from Rajasthan recently. The Whitefield police, after interrogating the accused, recovered gold worth Rs. 2,85,000 from the arrested. With the arrest, the police cracked a robbery place which took place in October 2014.

The arrested have been identified as Chenaram (25), Deva (19), Shamsundar (24), all from Rajasthan. They were working as jewellery designers with a city-based gold jewellery shop named Rajesh Exports situated in Whitefield police station limits.

According to the police, the company owner, Bastin Abraham, lodged a complaint with the police stating that the seven gang members who were working in his company had made away with gold ornaments meant for designing on October 12. However, they didn’t report for work the next day and fled with gold ornaments weighing 841 grams.

During investigation, the police learnt that the gang members were hailing from Rajasthan and Gujarat and had fled back to their hometown. Based on credible information, the police travelled to Ahmedabad and apprehended the trio. However, the other four accused managed to give the police a skip, said the police.

The Whitefield police, who have brought the accused to Bengaluru, are now e on the lookout for the remaining four gang members.
