Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former Minister H.D. Revanna on Wednesday took a dig at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not having visited the flood and drought affected people in the State.
Speaking to presspersons, he said the Chief Minister is so overburdened with the number of portfolios he handles that he does not have time to soothe affected farmers. “The compensation is yet to reach the farmers,” he said.

Welcoming the government’s move to bring a legislation to curb superstitious practices, Mr. Revanna said he would also support the Bill when it is tabled in the House. The government should also create a separate department to handle the portfolio, he said.
He pointed out that credit for the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) allowing admissions to three government veterinary colleges in the State should go to his party. It was because of sustained efforts by JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda that the permission had come through.
With the nod from the VCI permission, the onus is on the government to provide adequate infrastructure and faculty to the colleges in Bidar, Hassan and Shimoga. The college at Hassan resembles a cow shed, Mr. Revanna said. He lamented that the Finance Department is yet to release grants to these colleges.
