JD(S) hopes to do well in four city corporations

March 07, 2013 11:53 am | Updated 11:53 am IST - BANGALORE:

The Janata Dal (Secular) on Wednesday expressed confidence about coming to power in four city corporations “on its own strength”.

Addressing presspersons after inaugurating party’s media centre, State unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy said that considering the response from the people and the work done by party workers, the JD(S) would wrest Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad, Davangere and Gulbarga city corporations.

“One cannot dismiss the JD (S) so easily. The party has grown in strength and extended its influence beyond the Old Mysore region in recent years,” said the former Chief Minister.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said the resignation of the former Minister S.K. Kanta from the party would not have any impact on the party’s prospects. Mr. Kanta was upset because the party gave ticket to candidates suggested by Aruna C. Patil.

With regard to Maddur MLA Kalpana Siddaraju, Mr. Kumaraswamy stated that the party had not assured her the ticket, and the former MLA D.C. Thammanna was inducted into the party considering his influence in the constituency.
