JD(S) and Congress will get a fitting reply: Yeddyurappa

B.S. Yeddyurappa, president of the BJP State unit, said on Monday that in the bypolls to three parliamentary and two Assembly segments, the public would teach “fitting lessons” to both the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress for having entered into an “unholy alliance” for the sake of power.

He was speaking at a convention held here after his son B.Y. Raghavendra filed his nomination papers as candidate for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said that though the BJP had won 104 seats in the recent Assembly elections and emerged as the single largest party, it had to remain in the Opposition because of the “unholy understanding” between the Congress and the JD(S). Terming the coalition government a “mockery of democracy and an insult to the people’s mandate,” he said the leaders of those two parties had hurled serious allegations against each while campaigning for the Assembly elections.
