The former Union Railway Minister and MP of Kalaburagi constituency M. Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed displeasure over officials for not implementing programmes effectively.
Presiding over a quarterly vigilance and district in-charge committee review meeting held in Yadgir on Thursday, Mr. Kharge charged the officials of Public Work, Health, Education, Minor Irrigation and Panchayat Raj Engineering departments for their poor performance in implementing programmes effectively and lack of coordination with other related government departments, and asked them to ensure that the programmes were not hampered due to any reasons.
He suggested that Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain visit the spot and conduct inspection on road construction and repair work in the district once the PWD officials confirm that the work is completed, against the actual grant released under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The officials said they had constructed a total of 110.51 km roads at a cost of Rs. 49.82 crore in 2014-15. An amount of Rs. 31.48 crore was released for the purpose this fiscal, and the remaining Rs. 19 crore was utilised from the previous year’s spill-over.
Water project
Mr. Kharge, in the middle of meeting, spoke twice with Chief Secretary of the State over phone asking him to extend cooperation to complete the drinking water project for Gurmitkal town and other 27 villages from Bhima river near Yadgir city.

Water is currently being supplied only to Gurmitkal town and not to the rest of villages. The work to lay supply pipelines from the main pipeline has been entrusted to the Karnataka Urban Water Supply Board and an estimate of Rs. 20 crore has been drawn up and sent to the government for further action.
New projects
Expressing concern over new projects, Mr. Kharge directed Amlan Aditya Biswas, Regional Commissioner, to release Rs. 1 crore grant from the Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board to build a Rangamandir in Yadgir city after Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain said that though Rs. 4 crore has been earmarked for the purpose, additional amount was required to complete the project.
He also advised both district in-charge Minister Baburao Chinchansur and Yadgir MLA A.B. Maalakareddy to discuss the new projects needed for Yadgir district in the monsoon session of the legislature in Belagavi after discussing with Mr. Jain and zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer P. Sunil Kumar.
