Importance of medical research stressed

Navodaya Group of Institutions, Raichur, organised a day-long seminar on research methodology at its campus off Mantralaya Road here on Thursday. Eminent scientists associated with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) delivered special lectures on various topics.

Sesikeran, the former director of the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, spoke about the importance of documentation of health science research in improving healthcare system in society.

“Medical practitioners should document their health expertise and findings of their research and ensure their publication as well, so that their efforts, experiences and findings would help improve the health scenario of society,” he said.

Integrated healthcare

G.N.V. Brahmam, retired scientist at ICMR, spoke on the methodology of medical research, stressing on the need of integrating medical research findings with treatment and diagnosis. He advised medical professionals to spend some quality time for medical research.

Vishnu Vardhan Rao, scientist, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, spoke on the statistical part of health science researches.

The seminar was attended by 200 faculty members of Navodaya Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Nursing colleges. S.R. Hegde, medical director of the institute, welcomed the speakers. T. Srinivas, Registrar, presided over the seminar. Vijayakumar, Director of the institute, was present.
