The Karnataka Law Society’s Institute of Management Education & Research (IMER) will set up a solar power unit on its campus here to overcome power crisis. Also, the institution will supply surplus power to the Hubballi Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) every year from next year.
The Rs.1.25-crore solar power unit is among the projects that the KLS has planned to mark its 25th foundation day, from Wednesday.
Announcing this here on Monday, IMER director Purshottam Bung said the project was aimed at generating 1.5 lakh units of power a year. The institute’s requirement was 80,000 units and the surplus would be supplied to the Hescom.

IMER is a recognised research centre of Rani Channamma University.
Certificate programme
IMER would soon begin a certificate programme in supply chain management in association with the Chennai-based Indian Institute of Logistics. Doctoral programmes too would commence from this year. A Rs. 25-lakh business incubation unit to provide free service to trade and industrial leaders and prospective entrepreneurs and management leaders would be another addition, Dr. Bung added.
