Mr. Siddaramaiah, who is suspected to harbour doubts over the government’s stability and perceived to be not supportive of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, told reporters that as the chairman of the coordination committee, it was his responsibility to resolve issues if any. “That is why I have been appointed the coordination committee chairman,” he said.

The committee will meet only when there was necessity and not otherwise, he said. There was no difference of opinion on the stability of the government, he added.

His remarks come close on the heels of his reported statements in Mysuru Rural on Saturday that his opponents joined together “like Rahu, Shani, and Ketu” to defeat him in Chamundeshwari constituency, which triggered speculation and lent credence to the view that he was cut up with the JD(S) and would foment trouble for it.

To a question, the former Chief Minister said people of the State harboured good opinion about the government and had welcomed a few welfare measures, including farm loan waiver. On Cabinet expansion, Mr. Siddaramaiah said it would happen after October 3.
