Having spent the first 10 years of his life at Bambeva village, Haryana, the relocation to New Delhi with his father — a teacher — and brother, was not easy for Akshay Kumar. “I did not even know how to write my name in English,” he recalled.

From then on, he climbed the ladder of success and never had to look back. Acing the CBSE board exam, he went on to win laurels in international Model United Nation conferences at Harvard and Bonn. Founder and secretary-general of Model Indian Governance, a forum which pioneered the ‘governance debate format’ across Indian colleges, he has also received a letter of patronage from the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
