The II pre-university mathematics examination that was to be held on Tuesday, was postponed after it was confirmed that the question paper had leaked. The examination will now be held on April 3 at 9 a.m.
However, geography examination that was to be held on Tuesday, was held as per schedule.
“The II pre-university mathematics examination has been postponed because the manuscript version of the question paper was found in Chintamani. Second PU mathematics examination will now be held on April 3,” said Department of Pre-University Education Director Rashmi V. Mahesh, in an early morning message.

However, the message reached the students a little too late as they had already reached their respective examination centres when they got the news. More than relief, disappointment was writ large on the faces of students as the postponement meant another round of studying of the entire syllabus. Amith Ramesh, a PCMB student, said, “We had three days holidays before the examination and so we had studied well. It is disappointing that I will have to revise all of it again for the exam on April 3.” About the confusion that prevailed on Tuesday morning, he said, “We watched the news about the paper leak on Monday night. But we were not sure if the examination would be put off. When we reached the examination centre in the morning, the college staff told us that the II PU mathematics examination had been postponed.”
Just as most students, parents are also unhappy that the examination was postponed. Ravi Sharma, who accompanied his son to the examination centre, said, “There was so much panic. This disrupts the students' schedule as CET coaching (tuitions) will begin on April 2.”
