Though engineering and medical streams continue to be the preferred choice of most science students, Nischay Prasad, the science topper of Marimallappa’s College in the city has set his sights on the coveted IAS as a career. He scored 590 out of 600.

Son of K.M. Prasad, a contractor, and Dr. B.P. Gayatri of Kuvempunagar, Nischay has also been selected for the National Defence Academy (NDA) besides qualifying in the IIT-JEE (Prelims), but has decided to enrol for B.Sc. in Biotechnology at Yuvaraja’s College in the city.

“I am under no pressure from my parents who have respected my decision. Joining IAS is my ultimate aim,” he said. A keen quiz and debate enthusiast, Nischay studied without adhering to any specific time-table and was second in the State in the SSLC examination two years ago.
