Pramod Muthalik

Hindutva leader and founder of Sri Ram Sene Pramod Muthalik, whose inclusion in the BJP on Sunday was subsequently set aside on the direction of the party’s central leadership, said on Monday that he was a victim of a systematic conspiracy and set 11 a.m. on Tuesday as the deadline for the BJP to take steps to welcome him back. Mr. Muthalik, who seemed to have mellowed down after Sunday’s episode, told presspersons that the developments were a disgrace to him and his followers who were elated over his entry to the BJP.

Mr. Muthalik defended his action of joining the BJP, which he admitted was because of pressure from RSS leaders. But he saw a systematic conspiracy in setting aside his inclusion within hours of his entry. He, however, refused to name anyone involved in the conspiracy.

Referring to the Mangalore pub attack, Mr. Muthalik said that he had apologised for the acts of the Sene members and that he didn’t think that the pub attack was the sole reason for the BJP leadership setting aside his inclusion.

He said that he had conveyed it to the RSS leaders who facilitated his entry into the BJP.
