Two days after the results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination were announced, hundreds of anxious parents as well as students thronged the office of the Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB) on Thursday to apply for photocopies of answer scripts, re-totalling, and re-evaluation.
A large number of students were applying for photocopies of their mathematics and science answer scripts. With a steady influx of applicants from across the city and neighbouring districts, the KSEEB office was buzzing with activity throughout the day.
Some parents had to endure a wait of three hours or more. Munikrishna P., one such parent, commented on the application process, “We have been here all afternoon and have not had time for lunch. We were afraid that the office will close for the day.”

Many students and parents complained of the high fee for applying for a photocopy, re-totalling, and re-evaluation. Many of them were confused about the instructions to be followed and had nobody to guide them.
Another major cause for frustration was the allotment of a single bank for the payment of the fee. “I thought we could pay at any nationalised bank and submit the challan … but they told me that I can only do so at Corporation Bank. It was very crowded and made the process much more stressful,” said Lakshmi M., a parent.

Department officials said that many parents who came to the KSEEB did not want to apply for revaluation as they were racing against time to obtain admissions in PU colleges.
Yashoda Bopanna, KSEEB Director, said that as on Thursday, the board had received 920 applications, most of which was for re-totalling and photocopies. “Re-evaluation requests will increase once students receive photocopies of their answer scripts.”
No revision of internal assessment marks
While a majority of the parents and students headed to the office of the KSEEB on Thursday to apply for re-totalling and re-evaluation of answer scripts, a few of them who came to the office also raised objections to the internal assessment marks. However, Commissioner for Public Instruction Mohammad Mohsin ruled out any revision in internal assessment marks. “If parents or students had objections with the internal assessment marks, they should have been raised when the marks were announced in March,” he said.
