House burgled of Rs. 35 lakh cash, jewels in KGF

A house was robbed of Rs. 34.50 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. two lakh at Robertsonpet in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF).

The thieves broke the window and entered the house of Prakash, the owner of a petrol pump in the city on Sunday night.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when Mr. Prakash and other family members went to attend ‘tithi’ (death ceremony) of a relative after locking the house. The theft came to light when the family members returned to the house late at night. The house owner reportedly kept the key of the cupboard in the toilet.

However, the thieves traced the key and robbed the cash and ornaments. But, ornaments worth Rs. 40 lakhs kept in another cupboard remained intact.

The miscreants splashed snuff and water in the house apparently to mislead the dog squad, the police said.

A special team has been formed to nab the culprits, KGF Superintendent of Police H.R. Bhagavandas has said. Robertsonpet police have registered a case.
