The government has gazetted the upgrading of 10 town municipal councils (TMCs) as city municipal councils (CMCs), including Hoskote and Kanakapura which abut Bengaluru. Likewise, 10 town panchayats (TPs) have also been upgraded as TMCs.
TMCs upgraded as CMCs apart from Hoskote and Kanakapura are: Hiriyur, Mulbagal, Sidlaghatta, Mudhol, Arsikere, Siruguppa, Ullal, and Shorpur.
TPs upgraded as TMCs are: Jewargi, Hukkeri, Kudachi, Sadalaga, Pandavapura, Afzalpur, Chincholi, Gurmitkal, Hunagund, and T. Narasipur.
