Patients often forget to carry their health records while visiting a doctor. Now, no need to fret. Snap Health, a new mobile app, helps you store your medical records and also share them with your doctor.
Noted oncologist Vishal Rao U.S., who introduced a low-cost speaking device for throat cancer patients two years ago, has now teamed up with technology specialist Sreeju Komath to develop the “simple and free” mobile app to help patients take their health records along with them.
“Just take a snap of your health records, and the app will do the rest. It stores the records, helps you fill in details you, and share it with your doctor through cloud. It automatically syncs with your cloud account,” Mr. Rao said. Snap Health has the provision to maintain health records of an entire family. The brainchild of Dr. Rao, the app was launched earlier this month and is available for download on Google Play Store. “It took me around three months to develop the app after Dr. Rao discussed the idea,” said Mr. Komath. The iOS version is expected to be available in a month’s time, he added.

For a doctor, access to the patient’s medical history plays a critical role in the treatment. When a patient shares health records by providing the doctor’s e-mail and mobile number, they are sent to the doctor via e-mail and an sms alert. “The link to the patient’s records will be active only for 30 minutes. This is to ensure privacy,” Mr. Komath added. With growing smartphone penetration and archiving health records becoming critical, Dr. Rao hopes the app improves healthcare delivery in rural and urban India.
