“He had a lot of dreams and wanted to achieve great heights,” said an inconsolable D.K. Ramesh, brother of D.K. Ravi.

They are from an agricultural family based in Doddakoppalu in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district. Ravi was the youngest of three children of Kariyappa and Gowramma.

“He never forgot the poor background from which he came. He always empathised with the poor,” said Mr. Ramesh.

He said that his brother could not have committed suicide and urged the government to conduct an impartial inquiry into his death.

His sister Bharathi, now settled in Bengaluru, said that she could not believe that her brother could commit suicide.

He had never mentioned anyone threatening him, she added.
