Hassan boy scores 624 out of 625

Vachan Raghavendra, who secured 624 marks in the SSLC examination, with his parents in Hassan on Friday.

Vachan Raghavendra, of United High School in Hassan, has secured the second highest marks in the SSLC examination. “I can’t believe it. I was expecting 620, but got 624,” he said.

Raghavendra, is the son of H.C. Nagaraju, a lecturer at Government Junior College at Holenarasipur, and B.S. Anuradha, a science teacher at United High School in Hassan. “Apart from his teachers at school, he was guided by his mother. We were sure he would score 620,” Mr. Nagaraju said. The parents have already admitted Vachan to a private college in Mangaluru. “He wants to study medicine,” his father said.

Says Vachan, “I used to study for four hours in a day. It was only in the last three months that this duration was increased by two hours. My mother used to guide me and helped me with regular revision of lessons,” he said.
